Test Prep for the Florida Division 1 Contractors Exams

The Florida contractor license test is made up of three exams

The State of Florida requires that you pass these three tests to become a certified General, Building, or Residential Contractor:

Florida Division 1 Contractors Exams (Florida General Contractors, Building Contractors and Residential Contractors Certification) are three separate tests.  They are:

• Florida Business and Finance Exam
• Florida Contract Administration Exam
• Florida Project Management Exam

Is the B&F exam hard?  Is it harder than the PM and CA tests?

Yes!

And:  kind of!

The B&F exam is the one test every kind of certified Florida Construction Contractor has to pass.  Six and a half hours long.  One hundred and twenty questions.  Four books combined with you and your wits.  You can’t even bring your favorite pencil!  This is the most grueling certification test in Florida Contracting.  This test prep package, plus an hour or two of work a few times a week for a couple of months will give you a great chance of passing not only this test, but all three of the Florida Contractors Exams on your first try.

So, the B&F exam is indeed tough.  The other two tests:  Contract Administration and Project Management, are also quite challenging.  The good news is, the B&F will help you pass the other two.  The skills you practice for 6 1/2-hours on that test will hone your skills for the next two.  There are just four books to choose from in the B&F, and there are twelve books for the CA and PM exams, including the ones you used in the B&F.  The CA and PM each have significantly fewer questions compared to the B&F and allow almost 2/3 of the time, so you’ll have more time per question.  You’ll have an edge.

Having said that, you’d better know where to look to find the hidden content in the books, and you’d better be able to read blueprints for the Project Management test!
