Question 1

What study materials do I need for the Florida contractor exam?

Accepted Answer

The board-approved references for your three parts: the Builder's Guide to Accounting, Florida Contractors Manual, and Florida Statutes for Business and Finance; the Manual and AIA documents for Contract Administration; and the Florida Building Code volumes, OSHA, and the commercial-construction and energy references for Project Management. Buy the current editions.

Question 2

What study materials are most effective for passing the Florida contractor exam?

Accepted Answer

On an open-book exam, the most effective material is the approved reference set plus practice finding the answers to test questions by using the books. Our Essential Test Prep teaches that method. The books give you the answer; timed practice turns a slow lookup into a quick one.

Question 3

Which books can I bring into the Florida contractor exam?

Accepted Answer

Only titles on the current DBPR approved reference list, and each book must stay exactly as published. For a general contractor that works out as the Builder's Guide to Accounting, the Florida Contractors Manual and the Florida Statutes for Business and Finance; the Contractors Manual plus the AIA contract documents for Contract Administration; and the Florida Building Code volumes, OSHA 29 CFR 1926, and the commercial construction and energy references for Project Management. Confirm the exact list against the DBPR examination reference list before you buy, because editions get updated.

Question 4

Can I use used or rented contractor exam books?

Accepted Answer

We sell new, current-edition books outright. We do not sell used books and we do not rent them. Whichever way you buy, the exam cares that the book is the current approved edition and stays as published, so check the edition against the DBPR reference list.

Question 5

Should I buy or rent the Florida contractor exam books?

Accepted Answer

Buy them. We sell new, current-edition books outright at the best prices, as bundles or individual titles, so you own the right edition and keep it for the job and for renewals. We do not sell used books or rent them. The edition on the approved list is what matters on exam day.

Question 6

Are there affordable places to rent NASCLA and Florida contractor books?

Accepted Answer

We do not rent books, so we are not a rental option. We sell new, current-edition books outright at the best prices, as complete bundles or single titles, and we do not sell used books. Buying the set means you own it and keep it for the job and license renewals.

Question 7

Can I rent contractor exam prep books online easily?

Accepted Answer

License to Pass does not rent contractor exam books or sell used copies. We sell new, current-edition books outright, as bundles or single titles, at the best prices. If you buy elsewhere, check the edition against the DBPR approved reference list, because the exam is tied to the current edition.

Question 8

Do I need to buy every book, or is a bundle enough?

Accepted Answer

A bundle for your license type is usually the safer buy, since it pulls the board-approved set together so you do not miss a title. Confirm the bundle covers all three exam parts for your license, and check the editions are current.

Question 9

Which book is the Business and Finance exam based on?

Accepted Answer

Primarily the Builder's Guide to Accounting for the accounting math, plus the Florida Contractors Manual and the Florida Statutes for the law and procedure portion. It is 120 scored questions over 6.5 hours, and it is the part most hands-on builders underprepare.

Question 10

What changed in the latest Florida Contractors Manual?

Accepted Answer

The Manual is updated periodically, and each new edition is the one the exam expects, so the safe move is to buy the current edition rather than track what changed line by line. If your copy is a year or more old, replace it, because the exam references the edition in force and your page numbers need to match.
